Denmark Township

Welcome to Denmark Township!
Town Hall 3.jpg
Denmark Township’s past and future are tied to the great rivers that form its eastern and southern boundaries, the St. Croix and the Mississippi. First settled at the confluence of the two rivers around 1840, the township was established in 1856. For the next 125 years Denmark was an agricultural community.  Because of its proximity to the Twin Cities and its great natural beauty and recreational resources, Denmark today blends farms with semi-rural residential neighborhoods.

Denmark Township is located at the southernmost tip of Washington County. It is bordered at the North by Afton State Park, to the west by Highway 95, to the South by the Mississippi River and to the East by the St. Croix River.
  • Estimated Population:  1,665
  • Estimated Area:  19,286 acres
Denmark Township's many parks and recreation areas include: Afton State Park; St Croix Bluffs Regional Park; Carpenter Nature Center; Lost Valley Scientific and Natural Area, and Point Douglas County Park.

Our government structure is a 5-person elected Town Board that meets once a month, advised by an appointed Planning Commission. There is an annual Town Meeting and election in March, and all Board meetings are also open to the public.

Regular Township Meeting Schedule:
  • Board Meetings - 1st Monday of each month at 7pm
  • Planning Commission Meetings - 3rd Monday of each month at 7pm (when there are applications or issues to meet on)
  • Annual Town Meeting - 2nd Tuesday in March at 8pm
